Musical Care as a Balm for Grief
This is the first in a series of events organised by the ‘We Are Monster’ Network for Music Therapists of Colour. This event is open to therapists and healing practitioners of colour.
It will consist of a private viewing of the 20-minute film “Our Grief - Black Women Speak”, which examines the disproportionate repercussions of COVID-19 on Black communities in the UK and their discriminate treatment within the NHS. Following the film, attendees will be invited to respond through collective music-making as a form of musical care. Attendees will have the opportunity to process and reflect on feelings which have been evoked by this collective practice. Please bring your instruments!
After a community lunch together, ‘We Are Monster’ network members will convene in a separate meeting to close off the day.
Please only reserve your tickets if you are a therapist/healer who identifies as a Person of Colour. Thank you.
This event is funded by the Musical Care International Network.
